XLPower Specter Tapered Damper XL70H02-5

Precision Tapered Damper System

A tapered damper design engineered for stable, repeatable head performance.

What it is

The Precision Tapered Damper System uses a controlled taper geometry to manage radial support and axial preload in the rotor head.

Instead of relying on flat, parallel dampers that react inconsistently to temperature and assembly variation, the tapered profile creates a self-centering, geometry-driven damping interface.

How it works

Axial preload
→ progressive tapered engagement
→ stable radial support

As preload is applied, the damper engages gradually along the taper, producing predictable compression and consistent resistance.

No sudden stiffness jumps.
No random free play.

Why tapered instead of straight dampers

Straight dampers rely on material compression alone.
Compression changes with temperature, age, and assembly force.

A tapered damper relies on geometry first, material second.

The result is:
    •    More consistent damping feel
    •    Reduced sensitivity to temperature changes
    •    Stable head geometry across rebuilds

What you’ll feel in the air
    •    Clearer, more defined center feel
    •    Smooth, progressive cyclic response
    •    Stable head behavior at high RPM
    •    The same feel every time you rebuild

What you won’t deal with anymore
    •    Random head stiffness after rebuilds
    •    Loose dampers in cold conditions
    •    Over-tight assemblies just to remove play
